Oh hey, I win! Thanks for minutes of entertainment, PETA.
As I’m sure you have no doubt been made aware, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has made a flash-based parody of Super Mario Land 3D, stating that the game promotes wearing the skin/fur of animals. Mario, depicted here wearing a bloody tanooki skin (without even washing it first, which is gross), has had better days.
Listen. I’m all for what PETA stands for, even though I don’t necessarily practice what they preach. Wearing real animal fur in a world where there are so many other options, including faux fur, is a little bit gross to me. My love for tasty animals keeps me from being on the PETA mailing list, but I digress. This flash game is silly and a little bit weird. It’s a waste of time and money and a clear cry for attention on PETA’s part, attacking a current and irrelevant-to-the-issue property that’s enjoying the limelight right now. PETA: you lose points for this one! (See what I did there?)
Anyway. Back to our regularly scheduled programming.
