Hey folks!

Shocking though it may seem, I haven’t quite finalized Nicki Noelle’s design for “Lotus for Help.”  Ross is pretty much squared away - at least for the first issue - and Wayne is almost identical to the way he appeared in “Ross Boston.”  Nicki is the biggest overhaul.  I was never fully satisfied with her design, and now is my chance to fix that.

I feel like I’m getting close.  The biggest issue has been her hair.  I’ve previously portrayed her with fringe bangs that hide her eyebrows altogether unless she’s angry, but this makes it difficult to allow her to be more vulnerable or, frankly, happy.  I’m kinda liking the idea of showing one eyebrow at a time in standard poses.  It opens her up a little bit but still shows her as being withdrawn.  She always kinda has a wall up, anyway.

I’m liking the big, puffy shoulders.  I can openly admit that it’s a nod to Samus Aran, of the Metroid series.  I think I’ll keep them!  Obviously, it’s a jacket, so when she takes it off, she has a comfortable tank top on.  Nothing too showy.  She’s not a sex kitten.  I’m doing my best to keep this in mind in her posing, outfits, expressions, etc.

Her proportions are a little weird in the left-most,  largest sketch, but the scribbles get it a little better.  Just as a note.  ;)

Enjoy!
